A brand-new exhibit, giving guests a peek at the most sentimental moments in the lives of well-known New Zealanders, is officially open. Tender Memories brings the wedding stories and attire of more than 20 household Kiwi names to Bill Richardson Transport World – and it’s all in the name of charity.

Tender Memories was officially unveiled in style, thanks to an elegant and refined long lunch hosted by the TW Events & Incentives team on Mother’s Day, 9 May.

The exhibit will be on display at Bill Richardson Transport World until 30 September, and a portion of all admission sales to the largest private automotive museum of its type in the world (entry to Tender Memories is included in general admission to the collection) will be donated to the charity KidsCan, which works to support vulnerable young New Zealanders and their families.

Events manager Adam Reinsfield says the intimate long lunch to launch the exhibit was a fitting way to unveil the spectacular new display.

“The long lunch gave our guests the opportunity to really soak in the romantic ambience of the new display,” he says.

The long lunch included plenty of bubbles and a delicious menu designed by renowned in-house catering team, MASH Catering. Meanwhile, renowned bridal designer Trish Peng was guest of honour – she spoke to the crowd of about 50 about her experiences within the bridal industry.

Peng’s designs, including her famed red bridal gown – boasting a 20-metre train, vintage lace from Parisian couturier Christian Dior, and hundreds of Swarovski crystals – are among the gowns on display within the exhibition.

Other Kiwi names involved in the display include New Zealander of the Year 2021, microbiologist Dr Siouxsie Wiles, broadcasters Toni Street and Stacey Morrison, cancer care advocate Melissa Vining, Olympic athletes Barbara Kendall, Emma Twigg and Gemma McCaw, and more.
